Diploma of Facilities Management


Who is the Diploma of Facilities Management for?

This course is directed to the Facilities Manager whose responsibility it is to lead the individual work areas and to carry out the operations of the Facilities Management Unit efficiently and effectively. The course prepares Facilities Managers to manage the operation of the Facilities Management Unit as a whole.

Candidature 12 months
Study Workload: 6-10 hours per week
Entry Requirements: Participants need to be currently working in an environment related to the coursework (or be intending to do so), or be able to access a suitable work-based environment.  It is recommended that participants should have achieved Year 10 or equivalent level in english and mathematics.

Assessment:

There are four assessment tasks including a short answer underpinning knowledge assessment to be completed to gain the Facilities Management Diploma. Participants will be asked to:

  • Prepare a plan for one planning cycle for a Facilities Management Unit
  • Monitor that plan throughout the activities of managing the facility over that planning cycle
  • Demonstrate how they have planned, implemented and run projects, and used problem-solving activities, for managing the facility
  • Complete the Underpinning Knowledge Questionnaire

SKILLS OUTCOME

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL)

Given some participants may already be able to demonstrate their competence in some units, RPL is available and acknowledges skills and knowledge that may have been gained through formal and informal training and/or learning, work experience and life experience.
